Welcome to Modern Magazines Project Canada, a collaborative new initiative that brings together periodical scholars, magazine professionals, and digitization specialists. Our goal is to build an international and interdisciplinary network for the study and promotion of periodicals of the past, present, and future.
Our project begins with a two-day event held at the University of Alberta, including a workshop and a public symposium. From here, we’ll be building toward long-term partnerships and collaborations focused on magazines and the digital turn. How can contemporary digital methodologies help us to better understand historical magazines? What impact are those same technologies having on contemporary magazine publishing? And what kind of conversations are generated when we start bringing these fields — scholarship, digitization, and publishing — together?
